Smart baby monitors can now track anything from breathing to temperature, but the latest option from CuboAi can now track an infant’s growth using just the footage and built-in software. Announced on January 15, the CuboAi Smart Baby Monitor 3 is the company’s first to offer automatic growth tracking. The bird-shaped camera uses AI and the video footage to track an infant’s growth over time, the company says.

The company highlights that the growth tracking feature does not need any additional sensors; instead, it utilizes video recordings to monitor changes in the baby's height. They claim this functionality allows parents to effortlessly keep an eye on their child's growth.

Similar to earlier models, the third-generation camera utilizes artificial intelligence to notify parents if an infant's face is obscured or if the baby turns over. However, the Smart Baby Monitor 3 boasts a speed that's six times quicker in sending out these alerts, according to the company. Additionally, with optional add-ons such as the sensor sleeping pad and temperature sensor, the monitor can monitor breathing and body temperature when the child is unwell.

The camera records in 2.5K resolution and utilizes a wide-angle lens to ensure that the entire crib is visible in every shot. Additionally, CuboAi offers up to three days of free footage storage without any subscription fees, claiming to provide the longest complimentary storage available in the industry.

In the past, I had the pleasure of using the first generation Cubo smart monitor, and I was really impressed with its design and functionality, especially its capability to alert me when my toddler got out of bed. However, I often forget to mark his height on the wall chart, so the concept of an app that tracks growth milestones is quite appealing. Plus, it's undeniable that babies grow at an astonishing rate!

The Cubo Ai Smart Baby Monitor 3 starts at $239 / £229 / AU$399 for the wall mounted version, with the price increasing from there for the floor stand and bundles with the sleeping pad and temperature sensor. Pre-orders begin on January 15.
