PHILADELPHIA — The U.S. Coast Guard announced on Friday that there is currently no estimated timeline for the removal of a large cargo ship that became stranded in the Delaware River while transporting salt.

The Algoma Verity, a cargo ship measuring 623 feet in length, has been stuck in the Delaware River since 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The ship ran aground approximately one mile north of the Ben Franklin Bridge, situated between Penn Treaty Park and Petty’s Island. After departing from the Philadelphia port around 5:30 p.m. on the same day, it was en route to Fairless Hills in Bucks County, transporting roughly 45,000 tons of solar salt.
