One shocking discovery made Andi (@bestfindbestie) rethink her habit of keeping her phone in the bathroom while showering. In a TikTok video posted recently, she issued a public service announcement, warning others who do the same by revealing what might be hiding inside their phone cases. The video has since gone viral, garnering over 144,000 views.

"Just a quick public service announcement," Andi started, lifting the back of a sturdy, light-hued phone cover.

"I typically bring this phone into the shower so I can enjoy music while I'm bathing," she clarified.

She then turned it over, exposing a startling scene within—a layer that seemed to be covered in black mold.

The 15-second TikTok concluded suddenly, with Andi wrapping it up with a straightforward, resigned, “Well, that’s that.”

Is it advisable to keep your phone in the bathroom while you take a shower?

Leaving your phone in the bathroom during a shower can promote mold development, as the steam creates an ideal setting for mold spores to flourish due to the elevated humidity levels. The likelihood of this issue escalates if moisture becomes trapped in the phone's gaps and the device isn’t adequately sanitized.

Furthermore, extended exposure to steam and high humidity levels can negatively affect your phone's internal parts. Even waterproof or water-resistant devices can suffer from damage if subjected to prolonged exposure over time.

The revelation stunned everyone, leaving them in a state of shock.

Viewers were taken aback by the discovery of mold within the phone case. Many argued that they had never experienced such an issue while using their phones in the bathroom during showers, attributing their lack of problems to their routine phone cleaning practices.

"I've never experienced that," one commenter mentioned. "I do remove my phone from its case about once a month to clean it, so perhaps that makes a difference?"

"Mine doesn't behave like this," another person sighed.

"I clean my phone and AirPods with an alcohol wipe every night. CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?" exclaimed another person.
